Radiator replacement

Cool new Rad!

Years ago I had the original rad flushed and tested at a shop, no leaks and clear passages.  Clearly it needed a new frame, studs etc. At the time a drop-in replacement was not available, but fortunately this is no longer true. The alloy replacement is readily available, looks cool, and is half the weight of the original.

Apparently it is quite able to keep a TC cool.  if I build a higher output 4AGE it is uncertain whether i may push the limits.  A fan shroud and dual fans could be a strategy if required, and I’ll install an oil cooler regardless.

Hmmm  perhaps reversing the heater blower could suck cooling air from the passenger compartment through the heater core as a supplemental rad….  😏

Rad looks.... rad.   Weighs 6.2 lb less than the old, so with the fan, 8.8lb less for the system.  Will continue the quest for weight reduction.

Quite a difference in the fan as well.  Weighs 2.6 lb less, is more fragile but less obtrusive.  I would assume that the new one consumes less power than the old one also.
